A Very Good Place to Start

I've done it. I've finally caved.
I've had a couple of friends telling me to start a blog for a couple years now, and I've finally given in to the pressure. Nothing like some good ol' peer pressure to make you begin a new online venture.

The handful of times I toyed with the idea of following their advice, I always backed out once the blog site asked me to start designing the blog itself--the seemingly endless design styles would intimidate me, never felt right, and 99% of the time I'd try to turn one minuscule part of the blog blue, and it would somehow change EVERY SINGLE ITEM on the screen blue. It's overwhelming. I'd quit after about twenty minutes.

One of my friends occasionally posts on her own blog, and I, knowing she's not tech-savvy at all, finally decided to see what blog space she utilizes. Turns out I had actually already created a blog in this exact same space eight years ago as part of a photography project in high school, so half of the struggle was already done! Success!

(I have since deleted said photography blog, do NOT get your hopes up of seeing that chaos.)

I've been a fan of journaling for several years as a means of organizing the hundreds of thousands of thoughts, opinions, ideas, etc. that shoot through my head every day, and almost exactly one year ago today I decided to make it a personal challenge to myself to write something in my journal every day. All that has proven is that I'm entirely too picky about which pens I use, and has further pushed the point that I find the act of turning my thoughts into words I can see on a page to be incredibly cathartic.

I truly don't have much in the way of guidelines for this space. I suppose I can use it as a more refined place to save stories of the usually entertaining and oftentimes downright odd encounters I find myself navigating on an almost daily basis.

Congratulations to those three friends of mine who've insisted upon this for oh so long. You finally won.

Photos are from the last time peer pressure convinced me to do something significant.
